Hello and welcome!
Wow! A new website and my first new blog!
And what a better day than to launch it on World Book Day!
It has been a hectic, but exciting past 12 months! Such great fun launching both SLEEPERS KNOT and FORGIVENESS, Hajj: Once In A Lifetime. Writing is a passion from deep within, and the real beauty is writing for people to read to bring such pleasure and joy.
Today has been such a special day, seeing everyone dress up for World Book Day, reminds me the love I have had for reading as a very young child.
Just as the kids I too have been excited in dressing up today. Spent a whole week deciding on which character to dress up as! How can one choose from all the characters that one has enjoyed so much from all the books from authors such as Roald Dahl and Enid Blyton amongst many others! But finally, narrowed it down to a character from my all time favourite childhood book, The Saucepan Man from The Magic Faraway Tree – those of you that know must remember how hysterical he was as a character, hearing the words wrongly from all the clanking of his pots and pans!
We should all count our blessings. Being able to enjoy the pleasures of reading, disappearing into our own world of fantasies, being part of the story, part of a character. Every child should have the chance to be able to read and to continue reading into adulthood. It is one of my greatest passions to help and support under privileged children to be given the chance to be able to have the greatest gift one could have – to be able to read and write.
I hope you all have enjoyed today as much as I have (clinking and clanking in my pots and pans), and there is still so much more to look forward to in March! With the recent celebration of Saint David’s Day, we now have Saint Patrick’s Day to look forward to! Not that I am Welsh or Irish, but any excuse for a celebration and I have a love for all cultures and traditions from around the world. March is also a sign that spring is on its way (although there were briefly some flurries of thick snow at 6am on Monday morning, of which was quite a surprise to see)! I love seeing the first spring flowers bloom and the pink and white blossoms on trees.
I hope you all have enjoyed reading my first blog just as much as I have enjoyed writing it! I wish you all happiness and God Bless each and every one of you. BR x
